Oh my gosh! Something spectacular just happened!
So about two weeks ago, I wrote this post about the QueryTracker Carnival and a few of its contests. Well, I placed in one! Wait, what? I know, that’s what I said! I won a query critique by Lindsay Davis of Writer’s House. I just…died. I nearly died. You can see the essay here if you’re interested. I had fun with it.
I have been living in query hell. Seriously. I really struggle with writing a succinct letter. That’s why I was so incredibly grateful that Carrie Harris workshopped my query in her blog. (You can read that here.) She took my hot mess of a query and gave me some amazing (ly hilarious) insights. So yesterday I printed out the bare bones of her suggestions and my revised query, and the Illiterati tore it apart again. (Special thanks to Mason for his awesome reconstruction!) So then I had a freshly put together query, strengthened by the talents of others. And now this.
I am learning so much, and this baby is going to shine by the time we’re all through. I’m absolutely escatic. Thanks for your help, everyone!

Congrats!
That is cool, Mercedes. I sincerely wish you the best of luck.
(And if you’re ever interested, I have some unconventional thoughts about querying I’d like to share with you.)
Woo hoo! Rock on with your bad self!
I am not only a query reconstructor, i’m also a fan.
Go RSG!!!!!
Your song awaits performance!
