Dear friends,
What a weekend! I can honestly say that I am literally thrilled that we all survived it. My daughter had more seizures (we’re hitting the neurologist tomorrow), my husband rolled his four wheeler and is all right (he managed to push it away from his head, and then it rolled a dozen times down the hill without him), a little girl with Williams Syndrome (which is what my son has) went into surgery and passed away, and I had a two day migraine that left me barely able to function at all during this mess. Wow.
I feel extremely fortunate. I have never been under any illusions that we are immortal and guaranteed a fantastic, painless life, and I don’t take this for granted. Perhaps we should all take a day away from the rat race and embrace our family.
In fact, I’m going to take my own advice. Goodnight, all!
Best,
-M

My thoughts go out to you and your family, Mercedes.
I shall never complain again. *Hugs*
Oh hon! I’m so sorry! *hugs* I’m gonna go take your advice and snuggle with my boys. Hope you’re sans headache this morning.
Take care.
Wow, Mercedes. I wish you moments of peace.
Oh, ALL our best thoughts and wishes are going your way today.
Hey, Merc. Glad your husband is okay. Hope everything with your daughter has a positive conclusion. Are the seizures something new?
I’m sending lots of good thoughts…
You must be a very strong person to have to deal with these issues on a regular basis (speaking more of your children’s medical conditions).
It says a lot about your character that you don’t wallow in regret, or fixate on some future day when all of these problems might disappear. I’ve noticed that, instead, you tend to embrace the present, to look for the good in the ‘now’ — and that can’t be an easy thing to do.
Thinking of you and yours. I’ll certainly take your advice too– it’s good no matter what’s happening.
Definitely took your advise–love all around. How you manage to write so much and deal with everything is truly amazing and inspiring. I have no excuses. Hope all are well, and you too. I’m no stranger to those headaches.
Love and peace, Jenn
Sorry M. Hope the rest of the week looks better…
Thanks, you guys. Your well wishes mean a lot to me. This goes to show that we really are a writing *community*.
Ken, she had seizures in August, but I couldn’t get into a neurologist. Let’s discuss health care for a minute…no, let’s not. This last round wasn’t nearly as intense, but I found a different neurologist in a different city. I’m leaving in two hours.
Ray, I spent a lot of time waiting for things to get better or turn out, and then I realized that I was wishing my life away. Why not live for the moment as well as the future? The moment is here now. That philosophy leaked over into the novel that you read, and I think it’s a better story because of it.
Thanks again, everybody! You’re very much treasured and appreciated.
