Okay, so my writing doesn’t spark in the dark like Wint-o-Mint Lifesavers did, but my computer does! My power cord started making a strange electrical sound and then it started sparking. That sucker was yanked from the computer and sent sailing through the air like an angry snake. So I have to do everything fast! Fast fast fast, because the battery is draining away, and it’ll take 3-5 business days for the new cord to come. Aw snap! Anyway, there’s that guy electrocuting himself link going around, (my husband said, “Oh, you do NOT want to see that one!”) and so I’m not taking any chances. Besides, sparks. SPARKS!
So here’s everything in summary: Tweet the Meat accepted a tweet that will run this week sometime. I’d link you to the site, but I only have a few minutes left. Google it. 🙂
Everyday Weirdness is running my story “Chains” tomorrow. I like it. I’ve been a bit obsessed with the “People as Pets” theme of late.
I had an editor send back some suggestions, and boy, did they tick me right off. They changed the feel of the work. I thought long and hard about whether or not I wanted to fight about them, and I decided not to. Nah. It’s not that big of a deal. There are certain pieces that, yes, I’ll go head to head and fight tooth and nail for (and other body cliches), but this was a simple little thing that I’m not that invested in. I did it for fun, and perhaps it’s good for me to accept the changes gracefully. It makes it my work and yet not my work, and who knows, maybe I’ll like it in the long run. But most likely I’ll take my contributor’s copy, go “Yay, yay!” a few times, and put it on on the shelf, unread, with the others. Part of me is worried about losing the integrity of my work. The other part warns me not to start taking myself too seriously.
Oh yeah, and boots!
Pieces out: 42
Goal: 40. Go, revenge submissions!
