WIP Wednesday: Today I Rock

It’s still officially Wednesday for another hour, so this still counts.

This has been THE WORST WEEK EVER.  I swear, Murphy’s Law has been in full effect!  Every dumb little annoying thing that can happen HAS happened.  Mix-ups on appointments, faulty communication, shutting tiny toes in the car door, knocking over a bottle of soda that blew up on the carpet.  The America’s Next Top Model finale was a total letdown.  I left my computer in the other car.  The babysitter ate all of my frozen Junior Mints, whatever.  Big things (Ugh, people) and tiny things (I lost a contact!  Nooooooo!) Seriously, I’d laugh if I wasn’t so afraid that a bee would fly in my mouth and sting me.  But you know what’s going really well?

Seriously.  I was plugging along in a fairly slow (for me) fashion.  My average speed on this particular project is writing, editing, and polishing a chapter a week.  I figure that I’m about halfway finished, and I’m tackling the difficult, down-and-dirty chapters that make me sit and sigh wearily afterward.  They’re tough on the psyche.  They’re tough on the heart.  The chapter that I dreaded the most was the chapter that I wrote today.  It’s been bubbling…no, that’s not the word.  It’s been stewing…no, it’s been clawing in the back of my mind for a while, and when I sat down to write, it just poured out.  I wrote a chapter and a half in 50 minutes today, and when I was broken out of my reverie, I did that, “Huh?  What?” zombie shuffle that one does when torn out of a deep sleep.  It took a while to come back to earth after that.  And I feel absolutely fantastic.

This week still has it in for me.  I know this because the Universe has told me so. But today?  I totally rock. 😀

  1. I’m sorry you’re having a rough week, but I’m happy you made it through the tough chapter. Reaching and tackling that hurdle might just be the thing that turns the week around. Hugs to you, Mercedes!

  2. Oh I am so glad! I mean, let’s be honest. The universe usually has it out for you. No sense in making deals with it. Very unreasonable thing… BUT you got the chapter out and I couldn’t be happier for you! *hugs*

  3. *dances around Mercedes*

You ROCK girl! Those days when the words just pour out are almost frightening. I’d help you make amends with the universe but I don’t want to disturb your writing mojo.

I hope the rest of your week goes much smoother.

    Hugs hon.

  4. Ha, thanks, everyone! It was a particularly stupid week. If it had happened to one of my characters, nobody would have believed it. 😛

I can’t wait until I have a few seconds to breathe and can finish the next chapter! I’m hungry for it.

  5. First of all: Yes the whole world seems to conspire against me as well though mostly in little ways so I won’t know I am being slowly burned alive but they can’t fool me! :p

I am not trying to preach to you but I believe sun spots effect *Murphey’s law” where if sun spots are unusually high and many in a row whatever forces that keep balance on the planet go out of whack until Scotty comes over and fixes it to bring back the synchronicity that usually keeps things in balance.

“I can’t hold her much longer captain! I think she’s gonna blow!!”

    One more thing:

My Dad worked as a pharmacist for many years in a hospital and he says any self-aware nurse/doctor can tell you that night times and full moons tend to have the most fatalities/sickness then ANY other time.

That doesn’t mean those things don’t happen other times but it’s a LOT more likely during those mentioned times, In fact it’s pretty much guaranteed as it seems the spiritual *protection* that causes miracles goes off line.

In fact that’s when they are overloaded and often need extra help. :p

I am sorry if this is so long but I am a rather impatient man and I cannot keep things in my chest for very long without going stir crazy.
