Richard Thomas is one of the best literary teachers around. He’s thoughtful, prepared, extremely well-versed in a myriad of areas, and really has the drive to teach. So imagine my ultimate joy when he brought me on to be one of his Day of Reckoning teachers!
The Day of Reckoning is an intense, all-day series of literary classes that take place over Skype. You drop in from the comfort of your own home, listen to each teacher for an hour, and also receive feedback on your work. It’s really worth the time and money.
This Saturday I’ll be teaching a class titled Show Your Bones. Here’s a brief introduction.
Show Your Bones: Writing the Pain by Mercedes M. Yardley.
We’ll discuss how digging deep into your personal pain is not only healing, but produces truthful, moving literature.
I’ll be sharing the stage with fellow teachers Eden Royce, Carina Bissett, Brian Hodge, Lucy A. Snyder, Karen Runge, and Brian Evenson.
Eeeeeee! I’m so excited!
For those of you who aren’t attending this session, fear not. The Day of Reckoning classes run once a month. There are different teachers and classes, so you can find your perfect fit. I will be teaching the Show Your Bones class again on August 8th. I’ll also be teaching Share the Horror: Can A Good Soul Write Dark Things? in May and November. If you’re interested in signing up for any of these classes, you can find out more information on Richard’s Storyville Studio page. I hope to see you!
