Well, that was quick! Gamut has chosen to cap submissions at 300 a month for two main reasons. 1) We want to reply in a timely manner, hopefully in 31 days or less, and 2) we don’t want to suffer staff burnout, which is a real thing. I know because I’ve been there. We reached the 300 submissions cap within 24 hours of opening our doors, and now we’ve closed until September. Please be patient while we read your work, and we’ll open again next month! Thank you so much for sending such wonderful pieces in! We’ve already said yes to two.

I went by the website but it says they are not currently seeking submissions? Have I read it wrong?
No, you didn’t read it wrong. We cap it at 300 submissions a month so 1) we can respond within a month (that’s the plan) and 2) staff doesn’t get burned out. We hit the 300 submissions limit within 24 hours. So we’ll clear everything out and then reopen in September. I’ll update the blog to better explain that. Thank you! 😀
