October Reads

I told you about my super special awesome bookclub (The Book Democracy Book Club) where we are given a bingo card and random reading prompts. You read the book and a mod gives it a look over before checking off your box. It gives me something to look forward to every month, and helps me prioritize my massive TBR (To Be Read) pile.

One book gets to pull double duty and count for it’s prompt AND the free space. Hooray!

This month’s reads were:

My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix (Read a Book)

Home Before Dark by Riley Sager (With Imaginary Being)

The Whisper Man (Character in Disguise)

You are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero (Audiobook)

Murder in the Secret Garden by Ellery Adams (Involves Death)

Save the Cat! Writes a Novel by Jessica Brody (Candy Corn Colors on Cover)

Malorie by Josh Malerman (Horror)

American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis (About an Anti-Hero/Heroine)

My favorite read this month was My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix. It’s a dark little gem that zoomed out of nowhere. Think Sweet Valley High meets The Exorcist in the nostalgic ’80s. It really was a refreshing surprise.

What are you reading this month? Anything spooky for Halloween?

  1. I read an ARC of The Taxidermist’s Lover by Polly Hall, very creepy. Now I’m reading Catherine Cavendish’s upcoming book, In Darkness, Shadows Breathe. It’s Cavendish’s typical atmospheric story . . . loving it so far.:-)
